It is a pity some will fail
who’ve received Christ as Lord
because their seeds were choked by tares
and the cares of this world
____
Jesus said these ones would suffer
a fate which He proclaimed
His parable is very clear
no fruit in them are gained
____
the Lord is helping us to see
our need to get things right
if one is not producing fruit
and growing in His light
____
for all believers will face Him
their works will be their gift
presented to Christ their Savior
a lifetime’s work that’s fit
____
and when that day shall finally come
rewards shall be its theme
evermore to own such treasures
and crowns of glory that gleam
____
today can start a new life’s work
no wood hay or stubble
to interfere with serving God
which causes one much trouble
____
as God is helping us to serve
we need to draw near Him
so we can know His perfect will
obedience not to sin
